Description:
This volume sifts through the latest developments in theory and
research, discussing key diagnostic and conceptual issues and
reviewing what is known about behavioral features and
neurobiology. The effects of AS on social development, learning
and communication are examined, and chapters illuminate the
challenges that individuals with AS face in the family context, in
school, and in other settings. Detailed attention is given to
practical issues related to assessment and treatment.
Guidelines are delineated for conducting a comprehensive clinical
evaluation, including a description of useful instruments. Also
presented is a blueprint for developing individualized treatment
programs for children, adolescents, and adults with AS, highlight new
developments in social and communication skills training and adaptive
